| Central
to any religion is a religious pilgrimage
in the footsteps of God. Like amongst Hindus,
Char Dham Yatra is the basis of being a devotee
and attaining Moksha the final journey of
the pure. In four
different directions lie the abodes of God
in India. Hence visiting all four revered
places which represent incarnations of Lord
Vishnu is the lifetime aim of a devout Hindu.
The four places for Char Dham Yatra (Pilgrimage
to four religious sites) are Badrinath,
Puri, Dwarka and Rameshwaram in Southern
India. The four cardinal points were collated
by Saint Adi Shankaracharya. It is a pilgrimage
circuit that would ultimately unify people
across whole of the country in name of Hinduism.
